Below is a selection of recordings made at The Hitchin Priory. These recordings were made on the Sunday afternoon, what a great sound they made after only meeting that weekend.

Sing for Fun

by Amanda Frawley

Sing for fun, on the run.
Day night noon, if not in tune.
Take the time, find the rhyme.
Sing out loud, sing out proud.
Feeds the soul, fills the hole.
Beats depression and recession.
If you make, a mistake.
No-one moans, no-one stares.
No-one groans, no-one cares.
Sing for fun, everyone.
In a group, join the loop.
It wasn't me, who sang off key.
There's no pressure,
Sing at leisure.
No audition, no rejection.
All one voice, make the choice.
Sing for fun, everyone.

This poem was written by
Amanda Frawley who attends the Basingstoke workshop.

Do you have trouble pitching notes?

Do you find that sometimes the note you’re singing is not
necessarily the same note that everyone around you is singing?

Maybe you start singing and then find you are jumping an octave
(lower or higher) to try and keep in tune.

Maybe are you fine until you have to use your upper register?

If so then this is the workshop for you.

Discover skills and techniques to help you stay in tune and open up your vocal range.

Each workshop will be tailored to either the male or the female voice.

Gentlemen's workshop starts at 10am and finishes at 1pm

Ladies workshop starts at 2pm and finishes at 5pm

Maximum 15 participants per workshop

Date TBC

Tutor: Jane Cole

Know Your Crotchets From Your Quavers

Part Day Workshop | Price £25.00

know your crotchet image

When you look at a sheet of music is it just a rather confusing mix of lines, dots and squiggles?

Do you follow sheet music for the lyrics only to find it becomes confusing with sentences ending halfway through and suddenly a lot of page turning and losing your place happens?

This workshop will give you a basic understanding of reading sheet music so that it can help you learn a song and enable you to read from the music with some confidence.

An informative workshop which I promise will not be too heavy going! At the end of the workshop all participants will be given an information sheet of the main points covered during the workshop.

Maximum 15 participants.

The day starts at 10am and finishes at 1pm

Would you love to sing the harmony line of the songs we cover in the 10 week workshops but find yourself sticking to the tune because it’s ‘easier’?

Maybe you’ve tried singing the harmony line but found yourself being put off and unable to hold the harmony line?

If so come and learn basic harmony techniques to enabling you to give the harmony line a go at future workshops.

A friendly, fun workshop where it doesn’t matter if you go wrong and there won’t be an overpowering “melody section” singing against you.

Maximum 15 participants.

The day starts at 2pm and finishes at 5pm

Date TBC
